Berber rugs are hand-woven carpets made by the Berber people who lived in North Africa and the Sahara during the Stone Age. Rugs come in traditional and modern designs and in a variety of knot patterns, colors and fabric constructions.

Berber is also known as "loop pile carpet". This is because the fibers are made up of short, thick loops that are woven back and forth, creating a distinctive, dense look. Berber is considered outdated by some, but Berber is considered to be one of the oldest and most durable types of carpet.

Nomadic tribes are constantly on the move and therefore need to be able to manage with the most basic necessities. That's why they designed the Berber carpet.

Berber carpets are hand-knotted wool carpets with a particularly high pile, which allows nomads to use them as seating or beds. At the same time, like any classic carpet, Berber carpets can be folded or rolled up, making them easy to transport. Another characteristic of Berber carpets is their simple design, which usually has no decorative elements. This emphasizes the functionality and the authentic natural materials used to make these carpets.

Our Berber carpets are hand-knotted from our own sheep's wool in India and then undergo strict quality control in our warehouse in Hamburg.
